The LRHS varsity swim team is competing

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS Mustang swimmers had four successful swim meets to start the season.

At the latest meet on Sept. 14, both the boys and the girls won with a total of 883 points combined.

They swam against Braden River, Southeast and Palmetto High Schools.

The boys team scored 390 points and the girls team scored 495.

Head coach Steven Lubrino is proud of the team’s progress this season.

Lubrino said, “We have made a tremendous amount of progress, especially with the younger swimmers.”

Senior Nicole Majewski said, “I feel like the past few weeks have really started to get the team dialed in and I’m excited for the county championship to hopefully get our tenth consecutive win.”

“We definitely have a long way to go and have plenty of room for improvement, but compared to where we started, we are almost ready for the championship run,” Lubrino added.

The team will also hold a senior night in late September.

Sophomore Ainsley Ellis said, “I look forward to senior night because I’m excited to see my friends get recognized for their hard work.”

The Mustang swimmers will compete against Braden River, Southeast and Palmetto at 5 p.m. on Sept. 21 at John H. Marble Park.
