(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – LRHS science teacher Tana Phelps had her chemistry honors class make vanilla ice cream Friday.
Phelps introduced the activity to her chemistry students a few years ago; however, she could not continue the lab due to COVID-19.
She chose to reintroduce the lab because she thought it would be fitting during Homecoming spirit week.
During the activity, Mustangs learned the science behind making ice cream and got to eat the treat afterwards.
Her students enjoyed the project and look forward to the course this upcoming year.

Phelps said, “Chemistry 2 honors used colligative properties to turn milk, a little sugar, and vanilla extract into vanilla ice cream.”
