(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) is hosting a book drive for students Sept. 12 – Oct. 12 for Braden River Elementary School (BRE).

FCA will hold their book drive at BRE’s aftercare reading program.

All book donations should be dropped off in room 577 by Oct. 12. Both used and old books are welcome.

LRHS anatomy and physiology teacher Kelly Smith-Williams is the FCA adviser.

Smith-Williams said, “This drive is especially important to me since I work at the afterschool program three days a week and my own son attends there.

“Over the years my family and I have donated many books and I love seeing the students excited for new books on the cart and reading a series they have never seen or had access to before,” she explained.

Graphic novels are popular among the students from second to fifth grade.

Smith-Williams continued, “I am thankful for the FCA leadership for sharing my passion for increasing reading opportunities for students in our community. Everyone has that one book that they will always remember, and I hope the students find that book on our cart.”
