LRHS Mustang volleyball participated in a weekend tournament

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS varsity volleyball team competed in two consecutive tournaments at 7 p.m. on Friday at the Wiregrass Sports Complex.

The team competed against The Academy of Holy Names and Bradenton Christian School (BCS), losing to both teams.

Sophomore Hannah Sprungman said, “It was disappointing, but we picked it up the next day.”

The team played against Wesley Chapel, Pasco Fivay, and Hillsborough Sickles high schools on Sept. 10. The Mustangs beat Fivay 21-25, 25-22, and 15-10.

They lost against Wesley Chapel and Sickles.

Captain Vannesa Ritchford said, “At the end of the day, it’s all about the effort we put in and this weekend we really gave it our all.”

The next game will be against Port Charlotte High School on Sept. 13. The freshman team will play at 5 p.m., junior varsity at 6 p.m., and varsity at 7 p.m.
