(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS Girls cross-country team had their first meet of the 2022-2023 season.

The girls placed 12th out of 28 teams at the meet on Aug. 27 in Holloway Park, Lakeland.

Cross-country coach Rae Ann Darling Reed said, “Holloway Park is one of the toughest cross-country courses in the state but also one of our favorites as it is a true cross-country park built for our sport.”

The top individual LRHS finisher was freshman Skyler Quigley, who placed fifteenth out of 203 other girls. Her finishing time was 22:22.

Reed continued, “For all but one of the girls, this was their first experience at Holloway Park and for some, their first high school cross-country meet ever. We have a very young team of freshmen and sophomores and only one junior.” The team competed without their veteran sophomores Addison Shea and Olivia Spiegel.

Correction – Skyler Quigley finished 15th out of 203 runners, not 23 as was originally reported. Mustangs Ahead apologizes for any inconvenience.
