Lucas Viera – Mustangs Ahead

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS varsity football team will face the Cardinal Mooney Cougars at 7 p.m. on Sept. 2 at home.

The Mustangs are coming off a preseason victory and a recent game cancellation against Lemon Bay last Thursday, Aug. 25.

Despite the Lemon Bay cancellation, head coach Rashad West thinks the team played well with the time they were given.

West said, “I thought we played well early, but I certainly wanted to see if that was sustainable over the course of four quarters.”

The Lemon Bay game will not likely be rescheduled.

West emphasized that the Mustangs need to stay disciplined this Friday to come out victorious.

The Mustangs lost their matchup against the Cougars last season, but they remain optimistic for Friday’s results.

West said, “It’s a different year and we are both 2 different teams at this point.  While there are some things we’ll take from last year’s game, we know this is a new year and will be a much different game.”
