(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – LRHS this month welcomed a new college and careers counselor to the school, Dr. Carmen Purpus.
Purpus moved to Florida last year with her husband, and this is her first year working at LRHS. Purpus has 15 years of experience as a teacher, adviser and a leader in education.
Purpus said, “I do not shy away from challenges and am always looking for ways to break down barriers that students face to college and career attainment.”
Looking forward to her first year at LRHS, Purpus hopes to make a difference in the lives of all LRHS students, and especially looks forward to helping seniors with their college applications and career choices for the future.
She said Mustangs of all grades – especially seniors – should feel free to reach out to Purpus with any questions that they might have pertaining to college, or any questions about the future after college.

When discussing favorite quotes, Purpus said her favorite is a one by the Roman philosopher Seneca – “I believe ‘luck’ is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.”
