Summer Araujo – Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS Girls in White Coats are hosting a meeting Aug. 31 for Mustangs interested in joining the club for the 2022-2023 school year.
This is one of LRHS’s newest clubs and was created here at LRHS to create a community for future female medical professionals.
The meeting will discuss upcoming events for the club.
The first event they will be having is an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Nurse Appreciation Breakfast on Sept. 25 at Sarasota Memorial Hospital.
Seniors Kate Tuchman and Tierney Thornhill are the co-founders of Girls in White Coats.
Tuchman said, “We wanted to show thanks to the ICU nurses that have worked tirelessly throughout the pandemic and show our appreciation!”

In late October, this club is hosting a GiWC Gala to fundraise for the club. This event is similar to a silent auction where groups of members work together to create baskets for the auction.
The clubs Instagram also highlights a local female medical professional each month.
There will also be guest speakers, informational meetings about various careers in the medical field, volunteer opportunities, and field trips to medical facilities.
