(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS varsity football team’s first regular season game, scheduled for Thursday against Lemon Bay was canceled before the end of the first quarter due to inclement weather.
The Mustangs took home a 49-6 victory in their first preseason contest against Dunedin High School last Friday.
The Mustangs came out on top early and were able to secure multiple touchdowns before the end of the first half.
Mustang head coach Rashad West said, “I could only hope our season plays out the same way as our pre-season game did. Unfortunately, I realize we’ll start to face tougher teams later in the season.”

Despite the win on Friday, the Mustangs still have things they can improve on for future matchups.
West stated, “I really wasn’t happy with the penalties last week. We have to be more disciplined if we plan to have success versus better teams.”
The Mustangs are scheduled to face Cardinal Mooney at home next Friday, Sept. 2 at 7 p.m.
