(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) — The Manatee County School District has announced safety measures to protect Mustangs during athletic games for the 2022-2023 school year.
Spectators can now take only one clear bag to athletic contests.
The clear bag policy allows a large clear bag and an additional clutch. Both bags are subject to be searched by law enforcement upon cause.
All clear bags must be at max 12” x 6” x 12”. The small handbag can be used for smaller, personal items.
Security measures will also include the use of a weapon detection system, wanding, and the resumption of the clear bag policy.
A statement from Manatee school district officials said, “Fans heading to district athletic events should arrive early to account for additional time needed to enter the games.”
