New LRHS volleyball coach Jessica Leupold shows off her enthusiasm

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS varsity volleyball team will play its first game against Out-of-Door Academy (ODA) at 6 p.m. on August 16 at LRHS.

The team will also play Wharton at 10 a.m., August 20 at LRHS.

Head coach Jessica Leupold said she is optimistic for this season.

Leupold said, “The varsity volleyball team looks strong this year. They have been working hard in preparation for this week and we expect these games to be a strong showing of that.”

Senior setter Vanessa Richtford believes that the team is ready to play ODA and Wharton.

Ritchford said, “We’ve been practicing a lot and our team has played well against ODA. Personally, I have never played Wharton, but I’m excited to play a new team. I’ll be even more excited for our first game and look forward to a great season.”

Leupold takes on HOPE and volleyball

(Lakewood Ranch, FL) – LRHS has a new Health Opportunities through Physical Education (HOPE) teacher and varsity volleyball coach, Jessica Leupold.

Leupold has been teaching for 15 years and was an athletic trainer at the high school she previously worked at. Leupold moved here from New Mexico this past summer

Leupold said, “We’re going to have a great season because the girls are truly wonderful people.”

Leupold has had a great first week at LRHS.

“I am enjoying teaching so far, my classes have been great,” continued Leupold.

Leupold’s favorite part of this first week has been getting to know her students.

Leupold explained, “It’s been interesting to find out where everyone has come from and that a lot of students have traveled outside the United States.”

HOPE is a required class to graduate. It is a course that integrates health concepts and skills with physical education concepts and skills.
