(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- Now that the 2022-23 school year is underway, LRHS officials say students need to be aware of and follow school rules.

LRHS assistant principal Thomas Bellantonio said rules are there to promote school safety and success.

“We always encourage our students to educate themselves on the harmful effects of making poor choices,” he said. “The consequences established by the School District of Manatee County are used as a deterrent in hopes of considering the safety of themselves and those around them.”

Bellantonio said dress code will be a particular emphasis as the second week of school starts.

“As long as students abide by the dress code there will not be a need to make any necessary modifications,” he said.

Bellantonio said the school is paying particular attention to students who are out-pf-area without a pass.  Some students, he said, use this opportunity to engage in activities such as vaping.

“One of the issues we face as a school and as a nation as a whole is youth vaping,” he said. “Vaping seems to be prevalent among teens as it is easy to conceal and has a desirable smell in some cases.”
