Presley Long – Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – In the middle of some of the most stressful weeks of the year, Mustangs can distract themselves from continuous studying with one sure-fire entertainment – movies. There are so many inspirational movies to watch to give motivation, as well as fun movies to watch for a distraction. This list is comprised of some favorite movies to watch when Mustangs need a good distraction.
Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness
One of the most anticipated movies of the month, “Dr. Strange: Multiverse of Madness” hits theaters on May 6 and is on many students’ minds (I know it is on mine). A couple of students even got to go to an early viewing of the film and watch the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) expand. Some Mustangs are sure to ditch their Friday night studies and go watch this movie.
Senior Macy Walters said, “It went above my expectations and now studying is the last thing on my mind.”
Mama Mia!
Debatably one of the best movie musicals to ever be released, “Mama Mia” is the perfect movie to watch during exam week. “Mama Mia” is a light movie filled with the perfect amount of happiness that students need during these tough times, and the captivating story takes their minds off the stresses of the end of the year. The cast of Amanda Seyfried (Sophie), Meryl Streep (Donna Sheridan), and all other actors make the film even more amazing.
“It’s just a magical film that distracts me from everything else going on, and I have rewatched it many times already,” said Sophomore Emma Wantuch.

Knives Out
The 2019 hit sensation “Knives Out,” starring Chris Evans (Ransom Drysdale), Daniel Craig (Benoit Blanc), and Ana De Armas (Marta Cabrera) is another head-turner that students love. It offers an intense story that distracts from the anxiety of final exams.
Sophomore Emmaline Chope said, “Although ‘Knives Out’ gives you anxiety because it’s a murder mystery, it’s not the same anxiety as studying for final exams.”
“The film really ups my mood toward the end of the year as it’s become my comfort movie.”
With awesome cinematography and a great storyline, it is a movie that students should check out.
Legally Blonde
Instead of movies that will help students get their minds off exams, now I offer movies that will motivate them to finish their work. “Legally Blonde” follows Elle Woods as she studies to become a lawyer at Harvard. It is the perfect motivational movie for the end of the school year as it offers a lot of inspiration to keep up with your studies. Elle Woods (Reese Witherspoon) is the character students need to watch in preparation for their finals week.
High School Musical 3
Now, you are probably asking, why the third movie? The answer is simple; all the beloved characters from the trilogy graduate in the third “High School Musical.” This film appeals to graduating seniors as they get to watch what will happen to them in just a few weeks. It is a bittersweet feeling to watch the characters you grew up with graduate and knowing that shortly you will also be leaving your high school and friends behind for college. The LRHS 2022 yearbook is “High School Musical” themed, so this is the perfect movie to watch.
