(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS ceramics classes Friday donated the proceeds earned from their recent Empty Bowls event to Manatee County’s “Meals on Wheels” organization.

The event donated $2,500 and 25 bowls to the organization.

“Meal on Wheels” is an organization that delivers food to senior homes and families.

The Empty Bowls Event helps give back to the community and raises awareness about children struggling with hunger.

Ceramics teacher Laura Victore explained her support for the Empty Bowls effort.

“In the 1990’s, a small ceramics organization wanted to raise money for those who needed it. I wanted to do my part by making these bowls in their honor, and I am so proud of what we have completed,” she said.

The Empty Bowls website states, “We are a grassroots movement by artists and crafts people in cities and towns around the world to raise money for food related charities to care for and feed the hungry in their communities.”

All the event’s proceeds go to families to help provide their next meals.
