LRHS Mustangs celebrate their success

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS varsity softball team advanced to the regional final after beating Windermere High School.

The Mustangs (27-2) won 8-2 in Tuesday’s regional semifinal game.

Sophomore Ella Dodge won her 22nd game of the year, pitching a complete game with 10 strikeouts.

Senior Sydney McCray had an outstanding night going 1-2 with a two-run homerun along with a walk and a hit-by-pitch.

McCray said, “I am looking forward to the excitement that comes when we play and the energy that we have on the field. We have so much fun, and I cannot wait to get another trophy.”

The defense also contributed with special efforts by senior Grace Hogie and junior Addyson Brunemen.

The regional final game is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday at home against Newsome High School (24-3).

Due to the possibility of rain, if the game on Friday is cancelled, there is a makeup game scheduled for Saturday, May 21 at 1 p.m. at LRHS. If the game on Saturday also gets rained out, a make-up game will be scheduled for 7 p.m. on Monday, May 23.
