Presley Long – Mustangs Ahead

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – As the end of the school year nears, Mustangs and other movie lovers look forward to the new movie releases of summer 2022.

Although the beginning months of the year brought some good movies, it also brought many bad ones. The following list is comprised of upcoming summer releases that look the most promising.

Jurassic World: Dominion

The Jurassic World trilogy is about to come to an epic conclusion on June 10, with the release of “Jurassic World: Dominion.” The newest edition to the franchise is set four years after the events of the previous movie, “Fallen Kingdom.” After the destruction of Isla Nublar, the future of humankind hangs in the balance of whether dinosaurs and humans can coexist. We will see actors Chris Pratt (Owen Grady) and Bryce Dallas-Howard (Claire Dearing) return to finish the trilogy. Fans of the original “Jurassic Park” trilogy also get to see the familiar faces of Sam Neill and Laura Dern as they reprise their iconic roles as Alan Grant and Ellie Sattler. From the action filled trailer to the nostalgia of the returning original cast, this movie is going to be a blast.

Lightyear

Our beloved astronaut is back… and in human form. “Lightyear” follows the man behind the Buzz Lightyear toy from “Toy Story” as he embarks on an intergalactic adventure with his fellow recruits. The animated Pixar film will be released in theaters June 17 and will feature the voices of Chris Evans (Buzz Lightyear), Taika Waititi (Mo Morisson), Keke Palmer (Izzy Hawthorne), and James Brolin (Zurg). Fans of the original “Toy Story” movies are looking forward to seeing Buzz back on the big screen.

Elvis

The King of Rock N’ Roll is getting his own biopic this summer, and I cannot contain my excitement. Set to be released June 24, “Elvis” will follow the life of Elvis Presley as he rose to fame and changed music in the 1950’s. Austin Butler will star as Presley and Tom Hanks will play his manager Colonel Tom Parker. Butler’s performance as the superstar already looks promising from the trailer alone, so I am excited to see his full performance in the film. Joining this A+ cast is Dacre Montgomery as Steve Binder and Olivia DeJonge as Priscilla Presley. “Elvis” is stated to have a runtime of 2 hours and forty minutes, and fans are waiting in anticipation to see just how much the filmmakers dove into Presley’s life.

Where the Crawdads Sing

Based on the book of the same title, “Where the Crawdads Sing” follows Kya (Daisey Edgar-Jones) who was abandoned by her family and raised herself in the marshes outside of her small town. She becomes the prime suspect by local townspeople and the police when her former boyfriend is found dead. As a fan of the book, I am excited to see how filmmakers and producers went about making this movie and a lot of fans are excited to see Edgar-Jones return to the big screen after her epic performance in the film “Fresh.” Also featuring Harris Dickinson (Chase Andrews), David Strathairn (Tom Milton), and Taylor John Smith (Tate Walker), and featuring a new song by Taylor Swift, “Where the Crawdads Sing” is going to be one of the top dramas of the summer.

Thor: Love and Thunder

Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) are winning this summer as beloved character Thor is getting a fourth movie in his franchise. The film will follow Thor (Chris Hemsworth) as he goes on a quest to find his inner peace, which is interrupted when a threat to the gods leads him to team up with returning characters Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi), and Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) to take down Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale). “Thor: Love and Thunder” is set to release July 8, and from the trailer it can be concluded that this film is going to be beautifully aesthetic, humorous, and filled with the perfect amount of action. Fans know that a movie directed by Taika Waititi is going to be a good one.

Dr. Strange: Multiverse of Madness

And finally, one of the most anticipated films of the year, “Dr. Strange: Multiverse of Madness” is scheduled. Set for release on May 6, the film will begin right after the events of “Spiderman: No Way Home,” where Dr. Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) casts a forbidden spell that opens a portal to the multiverse. When a threat emerges, he and his team The Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez), and Wong (Benedict Wong), must band together to stop it and save the universe. The visually stunning trailer indicates that this movie is going to be an incredible addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). However, fans are waiting to see how the filmmakers fit the plot into a two-hour runtime. Compared to any other Marvel release, this is noticeably short, especially since the trailer shows such a complex storyline. Nonetheless, I, along with millions of fans around the world, cannot wait for this movie.
