(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- The LRHS varsity girls track team competed in the state championships this weekend.
Senior Grace Marston, who has committed to Georgia Tech, placed second in the 1600 meters and second in the 3200 meters.
Mustang head track coach Kristin Wikstrom said Marston’s success was hardly surprising.
“Gracie’s triple podium state performance is an incredible feat. Gracie’s success is fueled by her character; her resilience, work ethic, and competitive drive enable her to find success both on and off the track,” she said. “Marston is not only the state runner up in the 3200, she is the number one rank in this year’s senior class. Her success, as with all of our state qualifier, stems from unrelenting work ethic. In long distance running, there are no shortcuts. You have to work hard when no one is looking, remain consistent through the peaks and valleys, and stay patient to achieve your goals.”
