Mustangs at clean up

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – Several LRHS clubs came together to celebrate Earth Day with a community clean up at Fort Hamer Park on Saturday, April 23.

National Honor Society (NHS), Lakewood Loves Animals, FFA, and Marine Conservation all partnered with Keep Florida Beautiful for this cleanup.

Keep Florida Beautiful is an organization that works with over 40 county and city affiliates to engage and educate citizens, visitors, and communities to improve Florida through litter prevention, increased recycling, education, and beautification efforts.

Mustangs who volunteered were given reusable water bottles and reusable bags with the LRHS logo on them to promote recycling.

President of the Marine Conservation club senior Ally Adamo said, “It was a great turnout and we cleaned up a lot of trash. The strangest items we found were a car radio and a rat trap. I enjoyed seeing all the environmental and animal-related clubs of LRHS coming together as one. I hope in the future organizations decide to work together for more group efforts like this.”
