(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – Three LRHS Mustangs will be featured on a tribute video to the Class of 2022.
The Office of Communications and Manatee Schools Television will release the video at the LRHS graduation May 20 and will feature seniors from all Manatee County Schools.
LRHS seniors Garrett Benson, America Rios Cardona and Anabelle Lam were interviewed Thursday.
Benson said, “As graduation approaches, it truly feels like a chapter is closing. While I don’t know what is next, I always want to be positive towards any challenges that come my way. The possibility of the future is exciting, and I want to thank all the leaders in my life that have allowed me to get where I am today.”
Benson will be attending Western Carolina University in the fall. He plans to utilize all his unique interests but would like to focus on music.
Cardona said, “After four years at LRHS, graduation is making me feel happy yet sentimental. Alongside my friends and family, I am thankful for my leadership in clubs like FFA and Unidos Now. As a first-generation student, I encourage all students to achieve their dreams despite their background; there is always a path to take.”
Cardona will be attending State College of Florida in the fall. She plans to major in business and hopes to produce her very own coffee bean product.

Lam said, “With graduation coming up, I am feeling a mix of nervousness and nostalgia. After receiving my college acceptance letter, I felt as if all my work had paid off; however, I was anxious at the thought of leaving my family and friends. I believe my experience as the Senior Editor at Mustangs Ahead has helped to shape a lot of my own strengths and prepares me for a great future.”
Lam will be attending Vanderbilt University in the fall. She plans to double major in Human Organizational Development and Communications.
