(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) program honored cadets at the annual awards banquet on Wednesday, April 13.

During this ceremony, cadets were recognized for all that they accomplished this year in JROTC. Around 20 cadets were awarded for excelling in leadership, academics, service and athleticism, and patriotism.

10 different off-campus organizations were present at the ceremony to award these different cadets their medals, awards, and scholarships.

Of those that were awarded, four members of the JROTC program, one from each LET (Leadership, Education, and Training) level, were specifically awarded the Superior Cadet Award for going above and beyond in their services this year. These cadets are –

  • LET 1: Shane Stokes
  • LET 2: Daniel Rawlings
  • LET 3: Karen Tinoco
  • LET 4: Olivia D’Orazio

D’Orazio said, “These past four years have been a learning experience in a multitude of ways and I am eternally grateful for the opportunities offered to me through this program.”

During the ceremony there was also a change in staff, as the next year’s battalion commander, battalion command sergeant major, battalion executive officer, and other battalion staff were all acknowledged.

Seniors were also recognized in front of their battalion, families, and friends that night for the time and service they had spent during their years in JROTC.
