(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – LRHS will participate in the county wide food drive from April 25 – 29 to help support Meals on Wheels PLUS and Food Bank of America.
Mustangs can bring all un-opened and non-perishable food such as canned meats, peanut butter, cereals, canned fruits, vegetables, and pasta to the food collection bin located at the front desk school entrance to participate.
Meals on Wheels in Manatee County was founded in 1972, and since then has been changed to Meals on Wheels PLUS of Manatee to include additional food bank programs.
Manatee Schools community engagement specialist Deborah Perry-Gambino said this is the first time the district has initiated a district wide food drive for Meals on Wheels PLUS and The Food Bank of America.
Manatee County Vice President of Events and Volunteer Engagement Judi Bjork said, “The need remains high in the community and the shelves are bare at The Food Bank of Manatee. The food collected will be put to immediate use to help those in need. “
