(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- The LRHS varsity softball team advanced their record to 16-2 after two victories this week.
Game one was against Charlotte High School and the Mustangs won 11-0 in a five-inning run rule.
Sophomore Ella Dodge pitched four innings and had eight strikeouts and two hits.
Dodge said, “I felt really good. My pitches were working well, and I was hitting my spots good too. My catchers did great by working to get me strikes and being a wall.”
Wednesday, April 13, the girls traveled up to Canterbury HS and won 13-0 in a five-inning run rule.

Three pitchers played against the team: senior Ella Coiner, junior Peyton Knight, and freshmen Lexi MeNeely, and combined on a five-hit shutout. Coiner pitched three innings and had two strikeouts and only two hits.
“Being a utility player, I feel like I can help my team out in any way and in any situation,” said Coiner.
Junior Addyson Bruneman had an exceptional night at the plate going two for two with a double and an RBI. She also made some great plays at short stop, one including a diving stop that saved the other team from scoring a run.
Bruneman said, “The team’s performance overall was pretty good. It makes me feel like we are going to have hot bats and good defense which should bring us far in playoffs.”
The Mustangs’ next game is Monday, April 18 vs North Fort Myers at 7 p.m. at home.
