Alexandra Devine – Mustangs Ahead

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – Mustangs are invited to partake in the third annual 2022 Manatee Libraries Teen Poetry Contest.

Poets must be aged 13-18 and be a student in Sarasota or Manatee County. Submissions must include the poet’s name, age, school, a contact phone number, and email.

Select poems will be published in a special issue of “805,” the library sponsored magazine. Three winners will receive feedback from The New Yorker’s poetry coordinator, Hannah Aizenman.

All participants will be honored at a special reading at 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 30 at the Braden River Branch Library.

Each participant may submit up to three poems to teen librarian Molly Saunders at molly.saunders@mymanatee.org by Sunday, April 10.

Senior Reva Gandhi stated, “This competition is a great way to meet people with like-minded interests and share your passion for poetry.”
