JROTC orienteers top competition

Jared Baker -Mustangs Ahead

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) Orienteering team attended an event at the University of South Florida (USF) on Saturday March 26 where all four won first place team trophies. 

Orienteering is a sport that requires teams to use compasses and trails to navigate through wooded trails.  It attracts teams from JROTC teams across the country. 

Individual medal winners included –

  • Juan Knuth – first
  • Andrew Legutko – first
  • Samantha Rees – first
  • Lucas Kedziora – second
  • Ahmed Osman – second
  • Faith Miller – second
  • Reed Smith – second
  • Esteban Reyna – third

Miller said, “I think we did really well at this meet, and we are all ready and excited for our state-level competition.”

The Mustangs will next compete on Saturday, April 9 at Kelly Park in Apopka for their states meet.
