Steven Brown – Mustangs Ahead

LRHS senior Steven Brown got to experience Tampa Bay Buccaneer football from the inside

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – On Tuesday, March 1 the Tampa Bay Buccaneers hosted a special event for girls flag football teams and journalism students all over the state.

This was an exciting opportunity for me as I want to go into sports broadcasting in the future and this might be a situation I would find myself in in the future.

Upon arrival, there was a panel of four very successful women in the Buccaneers organization who gave some words of wisdom to the students in attendance.

They spoke about their experiences of rising up in the organization and how they were able to attain their current positions.

In the next part of the event the flag football players and journalism students were put through a mock press conference. The players were put up in front of a camera on stage and answered questions from the schools’ journalism students.

The final part of the event was a private tour of the Buccaneers’ locker room. They had a few of the lockers set up with the gear of some of the players including Lavonte David, Vita Vea, and Mike Evans.

Additionally, the office of head coach Bruce Arians was available to look around.

Overall, it was a great experience to take a glimpse of what could be my future in the sports journalism world.
