Presley Long – Mustangs Ahead

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – It is hard to believe that it is already spring of 2022, and with the changing seasons comes more movies and television shows to watch. In the beginning of the year, we saw movies such as “Uncharted,” “The 355,” and “Scream” come out in theaters and on streaming devices. But 2022 is just getting started in entertainment and these are top movies to look out for as we approach spring break and the end of the school year.

5. Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore

The Fantastic Beasts series continues this spring with the release of “The Secrets of Dumbledore,” and fans of the Harry Potter universe could not be happier. The film will follow the beloved character Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) as he is tasked by Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) to lead a group of witches and wizards against the dark forces of Gellert Grindelwald (Mads Mikkelsen). “Secrets of Dumbledore,” will finally be released to the big screen in April after multiple setbacks due to COVID-19 and fans can expect a wild, action-packed ride.

4. The Adam Project

Netflix is back with its original releases with “The Adam Project.” Set to release on Friday, March 11 “The Adam Project” tells the story of a time traveler fighter pilot (Ryan Reynolds) who crash lands in 2022 and must team up with his 12-year-old self to save the future. The trailer shows an entertaining sci-fi adventure, and early viewers are describing this film as a ‘hearty, fun for the whole family, action movie.’ With its amazing cast, including Zoe Saldana, Jennifer Gardner, and Mark Ruffalo, “The Adam Project” is looking promising, and I hope that with all of Netflix’s bad releases, that this one breaks the pattern.

Scheduled to release in January but having setbacks due to COVID-19, “Morbius” is finally hitting the big screen on Friday, April 1. Dr. Michael Morbius (Jared Leto) has a rare blood disorder and is determined to save others from his fate. He gambles his life to find a cure, and when it first appears a success, Morbius soon finds the remedy to be even more disastrous than the original disease. Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) are expecting big things from this film as it is in collaboration with MARVEL studios, and from the trailer, it can be concluded that this movie is going to be a bloody fright.

2.The Lost City

On Saturday, March 19, “The Lost City”, starring Sandra Bullock (Loretta Sage), Channing Tatum (Alan), and Daniel Radcliffe (Fairfax) will be released in theaters and on Paramount Plus. The film will follow Loretta, a popular adventure novelist, and Alan, her handsome cover model. While promoting her new book, Loretta is kidnapped by a billionaire who believes she can lead him to the ancient cities lost treasure that she wrote about in her book. Alan, determined to be a hero in real life and not just on paper, sets off to rescue her. This is an original concept that I am excited to see in action. It is rare nowadays to see new concepts in films, and it feels like this movie is going to be a breath of fresh air in a world of remakes and repeats.

1. The Batman

And finally, film lovers’ most anticipated movie of the year: “The Batman,” starring Robert Pattinson (Batman/Bruce Wayne), Zoe Kravitz (Selina Kyle/Catwoman), and Paul Dano (The Riddler). Released Friday March 4, “The Batman” follows Batman’s second year of fighting crime in Gotham City, where a sadistic killer leaves behind cryptic clues. Batman will have to form new alliances to unmask the culprit, all the while bringing justice to the abuse of power that has plagued the city.  While all Batman movies have dark undertones, “The Batman” is darker, gorier, and overall, more action-packed than others. Pattinson is bringing a lot to the table in this film, and early viewers of the film are saying his performance as Batman is incredible. Some even say he is the best Batman yet. I guess we will have to wait and see.
