(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS varsity baseball team received a donation of $1,000 after visiting Christine Olander, who is recovering from breast cancer.

Olander had a double mastectomy recently and later developed pulmonary embolisms in her lungs.

Olander’s son Austin is a member of the Cardinal Mooney High School (CMHS) baseball team and has played with and against members of the LRHS varsity baseball team.

The Mustangs visited Olander after practice on Thursday, Mar. 3 to give her a card signed by each member. Each member wrote her a short message to uplift her in these tough times.

Olander said, “I, and my family, will forever be grateful. I cannot tell you how much this meant to me.”

Senior Zachary Miller said, “Helping out Mrs. Olander in the way we did truly impacted her life. You never know what someone is going through and that little things it could take to brightened up someone’s days.”
