(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – “The Batman” hit theaters on Friday, March 3, and had an expected opening weekend box office take of  nearly $250 million.

Google summary stated, “Batman ventures into Gotham City’s underworld when a sadistic killer leaves behind a trail of cryptic clues. As the evidence begins to lead closer to home and the scale of the perpetrator’s plans become clear, he must forge new relationships, unmask the culprit, and bring justice to the abuse of power and corruption that has long plagued the metropolis.”

Senior Sara Mills said, “Even though I am not a huge fan of the DC movies, I thought that the movie was entertaining and included a great cast.”

The star-studded cast includes Robert Pattinson (Batman), Zoe Kravitz (Catwoman), and Paul Dano (The Riddler) who were cast perfectly for their respective roles.

Despite backlash when he was first cast, Pattinson played an amazing Batman every time he was on screen.

In some scenes he did not have to say a word and his performance was still amazing. Pattinson fits perfectly as a young Bruce Wayne, who is new to being a vigilante.

Batman was menacing in every scene, with an amazing suit that was shown off well in the film. During the nearly three-hour film, we see Batman go from an embodiment of vengeance to a symbol of hope for Gotham’s future.

As soon as The Riddler appeared on screen, fans knew that Paul Dano was going to give an amazing performance. Dano’s performance as The Riddler turned this movie into a murder mystery, with horror elements that were included perfectly.

The way that The Riddler goes about his plan reflects that of the infamous, real life zodiac killer, leaving clues and encrypted messages for the Gotham city police to uncover.

LRHS senior Steven Brown stated, “I believe that “The Batman” is in the top two Batman movies of all time because of its comic book accuracy. Pattinson’s performance as Batman was amazing and is up there with Christian Bale’s portrayal.”

“The Batman” has the potential to become one of the greatest superhero movies of all time with a great cast, acting, and plot.
