(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- Two dozen LRHS dual-enrolled US history students toured historical downtown Sarasota on a field trip Friday, March 4.

The Mustangs on the trip were those enrolled in history teacher Tom Honsa’s dual enrolled US history class.

During their field trip, they looked at the local architectural changes throughout the area which showed how much things has changed and developed in the last 100 years.

 “Downtown Sarasota has a surprising number of historical structures that reflect the city’s history and culture,” Honsa said.  “A field trip like this provides students a chance to actually ‘see’ the past and to appreciate it on a very real level.”

Junior Kaitlyn Harper said, “I had a really fun time and I think it was a great opportunity to learn about local history.”
