SGA gets new sponsor, officers

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – LRHS Student Government Association (SGA) will have many changes in the 2022-2023 school year with a new adviser and officer team.

Digital info Tech teacher Tommy Cuervo will be the new SGA adviser for next year, taking over for Early Childhood Education teacher Delaney Riggins.

Cuervo stated, “I’m excited to be the new SGA advisor and I’m looking to do a lot of school events/activities and I’m looking forward to what next year brings us.”

SGA also released their 2022-2023 officers –  

  • President – Brooke Morgan
  • Vice president – Hayley Pollard
  • Secretary – Michael Price
  • Treasurer – Joseph Vilasi
  • Historian – Lilly Lynch
  • Public Relations – Sophia Colombo and Joslyn Chapman

Incoming SGA president junior Brooke Morgan stated, “I am interested in expanding the student body’s interest in activities around the school and being able to watch peers try new things. In the upcoming year, I will prioritize student involvement and putting on events that students will enjoy.”

Morgan added, “At the end of the day, my main goal is to create a more positive environment for everyone at Lakewood Ranch High School.”  

Meanwhile, the LRHS Stampede club and SGA are teaming up to hold a dodgeball tournament at 6 p.m. on Monday, Apr. 4 in the LRHS gym.

Teams must have six to eight players and pay $3 for each player entering.               

Forms can be picked up during all lunches or outside room 619. All forms are due by Friday, March 25 to Room 619.
