(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- Junior Reserve Officer’s Training Corps (JROTC) is a program at LRHS to help Mustangs become better citizens.

It is designed to teach high schoolers the value of citizenship, leadership, service to the community, and personal responsibility.

Some may think JROTC is just for Mustangs to go to the military, but it also helps Mustangs figure out what is next for them.

LRHS JROTC Sgt. William Cassidy said, “We teach anything from history, civics, to life skills. Our curriculum comes from the government. It is designed for Mustangs to go through development and citizenship programs.”

Other JROTC missions work on self-esteem, teamwork, and self-discipline.

Junior Samantha Rees said, “In JROTC you make friends, get leadership opportunities, build your confidence, and get life lessons”.

Getting them prepared for the next step in life is the goal of JROTC.
