(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS wrestling team has a history of sportsmanship and success that has grown since the first years of the team.

Two Mustang wrestlers left Wednesday for this week’s state championship wrestling tournament.

Head coach Patrick Ancil has been with the wrestling Mustangs for 17 years and takes pride in each year’s team.

He began as a volunteer coach in 2005 and was promoted to head coach in 2007.

Ancil said, “Great student athletes, great teachers, and administrative support have made my journey at LRHS so much fun and enjoyable.”

Ancil has experienced many successes with the Mustang wrestling team, including getting to see the first Mustang qualify for states in 2009.

Ancil’s favorite seasons were the 2016 and 2017 school years and their corresponding teams, when the Mustangs took first place at Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) team Grade Point Average (GPA) average of 3.56.

Ancil continues to enjoy his time with the wrestling Mustangs and can’t wait to see them grow and succeed.
