Sara Cestero – Mustangs Ahead
(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS Technology Student Association (TSA) went to the Florida state conference in Orlando from Wednesday, Feb. 23 to Sunday, Feb. 28.
The Mustangs came back with one first place trophy in computer-aided design architecture, two second place trophies for dragster design and promotional design, and one third place trophy for system control technology.
Other Mustangs also made top 10 finalists for 15 other events.
Senior Paige Willemsen won first place in computer-aided design architecture.
“I absolutely love TSA and winning this award feels like a culmination of all the skills I’ve developed over the past six years of competing, and if feels amazing to be recognized at such a high level in my senior year,” said Willemsen.
The team also brought home the state spirit stick after being awarded the most spirited chapter. They are now assigned to decorate the spirit stick for next year’s conference.
Students who placed first, second and third, will move onto the national conference which will take place in Dallas, Texas over the summer.
LRHS TSA adviser Brian Richards said, “I am extremely proud of the Mustangs we took on this trip, almost every project we turned in were finalists, so I think for what we could accomplish we did amazing.”
