(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS blood drive committee partnered with Suncoast Blood Center for a successful on-campus blood drive Friday.

Committee officials say 83 Mustangs donated blood.

Suncoast Blood Centers partner Cindy Winning said, “I’ve enjoyed meeting and working with all the students and staff. This was an incredible contribution, and we could not be happier with the turnout.”

Suncoast Blood Centers provide blood products to many local facilities such as Moffitt Cancer Center, DeSoto Memorial Hospital, Lakewood Ranch Medical Center, Manatee Memorial Hospital and Sarasota Memorial Healthcare System.

LRHS Blood Drive Committee members register donors

LRHS fine arts teacher and blood drive committee adviser Rebekah Lester said, “I am beyond pleased with the donors and Suncoast. There were a higher number of donors than expected, especially after two years. We thank the committee members for their hard work.”

Mustangs who signed up made donations during their class and lunch periods.

Senior Sara Mills who donated blood said, “Before the donation, we made sure to eat and drink, fill out the information sheet, and get a blood sample. Although I felt a little nauseous, I was happy I got to contribute something that could potentially save someone’s life.”
