Ryan Hanson – Mustangs Ahead

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- The 2022 National Football League (NFL) playoffs repeatedly shocked the league and its fans, making this year’s Superbowl LVI an interesting matchup.

The matchup consists of two teams who were thought to be out of the playoffs quickly, the Los Angeles Rams (15-5) and the Cincinnati Bengals (13-7). The Rams are considered a super team, because their offense and defense have consistently dominated throughout the 2022 playoffs.

The Los Angeles Rams played the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on January 23. During the game, the Rams led for the most part until veteran quarterback Tom Brady led a Buccaneers comeback in the second half that resulted in the game being tied with little time left in the fourth quarter. The Rams ended up winning the game of a field goal from Matt Gay.  The Rams later beat the San Francisco 49r’s for a berth in the Super Bowl.

The Cincinnati Bengals,] led by quarterback Joe Burrow, shocked the football community with their 27-24 win over the Kansas City Chiefs in overtime.

The Bengals were one of the last teams thought to make the playoffs, let alone beat one of the best teams in the NFL (the Kansas City Chiefs) to go to the Superbowl. The Bengals team consists of an amazing offense and defense

LRHS junior Jared Baker said, “Joe Burrow has performed great in the playoffs so far and seeing him in the Superbowl is something I am looking forward to.”

Sophomore Grace Shaw said, “I am excited to see the Bengals play because they haven’t been to the Superbowl in a while. I’m also excited to see how Joe Burrow leads the team.”

Superbowl LVI will be broadcast at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 13 on NBC.
