Wrestlers win while recognizing seniors

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS wrestling team beat rival Braden River 46-28 on Thursday, Feb. 3. 

This match was also senior night as seniors Tim Clark, Ranson Coons, Marcus Cincotta, Nate Cohen, Case Wilcox, and Stefan Pearl were recognized.

Wilcox said, “My favorite part about wrestling is seeing all of the team get so hyped when Andres Anastasi clutched up his match and everyone was so hyped that even after having lost the match, I was so hyped for him and the team.”

Head coach Ancil said, “It’s always exciting to win against your cross-town rival. I’m very happy for the seniors who were able to get the team win on senior night.”

The Mustangs next participated in the Southeast High School duals on Saturday, Feb. 5 where they placed second out of 16 teams.

LRHS went 4-1, falling only to Lemon Bay High School who is ranked 9th in state 1A.

Head coach Patrick Ancil stated, “Every wrestler contributed to today’s success.  We were moving guys around to fill holes where we had injured kids and everyone stepped up.”

The final home dual meet is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 9 against Palmetto.
