Jennifer Shank-Mustangs Ahead 

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- LRHS Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) cadets won their first 2022 orienteering competition over the weekend.  

There were nine schools in the competition from all over Florida. Individual and team awards were handed out, and the cadets brought home a first-place trophy for the Green (advanced), Yellow (beginners) and Orange (intermediate) teams in addition to first place-overall. 

The individual cadets who finished in the top three positions and received individual medals were – 

Yellow Male Team 

  • Second Place – Jaden Lungu 
  • Third Place – Lucas Kedziora 

Yellow Female Team 

  • First Place – Ana Abreu 
  • Second Place – Alyssa Bell 

Orange Male Team 

  • Third Place – Benjamin Rosasco 

Orange Female Team 

  • First Place – Olivia D’Orazio 
  • Third Place – Nicole Majewski  

Green Male Team 

  • First Place – Reed Smith 
  • Third Place – Mudathir Osman 

Green Female Team 

  • First Place – Samantha Rees 
  • Second Place – Seraphina Nelson

Senior Reed Smith, who won first place for the Green Male Team said, “The cold conditions made it very difficult, but the course was set up very well and gave the perfect conditions for success”.  

Senior Seraphina Nelson, who won second place for the Green Female Team said, “Aside from being very cold I was able to stay on my game and the course went very smoothly.” 

The cadets compete in another orienteering competition this weekend in North Port.
