Ainsley Ellis – Mustangs Ahead

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- The LRHS girls varsity soccer team had their final regular season game against Newsome High School on Tuesday, Feb 1.

Although they lost 1-0, the team is still in the playoffs and will advance to the regional quarterfinals.

Head coach and early childhood education teacher Delaney Riggins said, “I am proud of the girls and their performance this season. They have been very successful in working together as a cohesive unit, which brought them to the District Championship game.”

The team placed fourth overall in class 7A district 7.

Sophomore Sophie Lemus said, “I am so proud of the team and the season we had. I am even more excited for our regional quarterfinals game.”

Riggins continued, “We fell short, but still have the opportunity to continue to advance in our playoff run.”

The girls next game is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 8.
