Charlize Ucciferri – Mustangs Ahead

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – This season the LRHS track and field team will welcome coach Bill Zarella to help bring new successes.

Zarrella has been the LRHS boys cross-country coach for the last three years and previously coached track and field in Massachusetts for eight years.

“I like working with LRHS athletes so taking on this position will be exciting,” said Zarrella.

Zarrella is father of LRHS English teacher Kristin Wikstrom, who also coaches the girls cross country and track and field teams.

 Zarrella said, “It is always a pleasure working with her and the other coaches here at LRHS. We all get along together very well.”

As the new track coach, Zarrella has new plans for the team such as where the throwers practice this season.

“My goals for this season are to maximize each athletes’ potential. I want to get as many to the state meet qualifiers as possible,” said Zarrella.

The first varsity meet will take place on Friday, Feb. 25 at Manatee.
