LRHS girls lacrosse is preparing for 2022

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – Tryouts for the LRHS girls lacrosse teams have been scheduled for 2:30 – 4:30 p.m., Jan. 24 – 28.

The players have been preparing for the upcoming season under new head coach Kristy Harris.

Harris has been playing lacrosse since the seventh grade and has coached at several schools throughout Sarasota and Manatee County such as Out of Door Academy and Manatee High School. She has also coached at the local club, Monster Lacrosse.

Harris stated, “I would really like to create a respectful, positive, healthy lacrosse learning environment; foster the development of a positive mental attitude and good sportsmanship and improve each player’s understanding and appreciation of team play and field spatial designation.”

Harris is preparing for the lacrosse season by organizing workouts for interested players to partake in on their own time as well as scheduled weightlifting sessions almost every day.

Senior Campbell Laurvick said, “I am very excited for this 2022 lacrosse season.”

Through these practices, players are improving their strength and fitness to be on top of their game when season starts and for tryouts.

Harris added, “Strength training is a very effective tool for injury prevention.”

Varsity and junior varsity rosters will be announced on Friday, Jan. 28 and practice will begin on Monday, Jan 31.
