Top films to look for in 2022

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The year 2022 has a lot to offer when it comes to big-budget blockbuster films, some of which fans have been anticipating for years. When it comes down to the movies that I am the most excited to see, there are five flicks that stand out.

5. “Sonic the Hedgehog 2”:

The popular “Sonic the Hedgehog” franchise is continuing its live action film series with this sequel. Ben Schwartz and Jim Carrey are returning to their roles of Sonic and Dr. Eggman respectively, as well as James Marsden and Tika Sumpter, who played Tom and Maddie in the first movie.

However, “Sonic the Hedgehog 2” promises something the first movie didn’t have much of, Sonic’s friends. Sonic’s best friend Tails the Fox (Colleen O’Shaughnessey) is set to be Sonic’s sidekick, while Knuckles the Echidna (Idris Elba) will be Sonic’s rival. With two classic characters and Jim Carrey looking as zany as ever, I’m looking forward for this fun, fast-paced adventure.

4. “Top Gun: Maverick”:

I loved the first “Top Gun.” The soundtrack, the action sequences, and the rivalry between Maverick (Tom Cruise) and Iceman (Val Kilmer) kept me on the edge of my seat as a kid.

Now, almost 40 years later, we are finally getting the sequel we deserve. The audience will follow Maverick as he teaches a new generation of students to become some of the best pilots the world has ever seen, with one of those being the son of his deceased best friend Goose.

3. “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-verse (Part One)”:

2018’s “Into the Spider-verse”, is one of the best animated films I’ve seen in a while. The movie felt like a modern marvel comic coming to life before my eyes, and it was one of the best experiences in the cinema I’ve ever had.

Seeing this animation style back on the big screen will be one of my favorite experiences of this year.

2.” Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness”:

It has been 15 years since Sam Raimi stepped into the world Marvel (“Spiderman 3”), and I have to say, Dr. Strange is the perfect character for him to return with. Known for his work in horror movies with the “Evil Dead” films being his big breakthrough, the insanity of Dr. Strange’s world is perfect for the director.

1.“The Batman”:

Let’s be clear, after the failure of 2017’s “Justice League”, we were all feeling a little bit tired of DC’s movies. When a new Batman film starring Robert Pattinson was announced we all collectively groaned and sighed.

However, we didn’t hear anything else other than the questionable casting choices for a couple of years until we got a teaser on August 27, 2020. What we saw promised us audiences a dark, gritty, and brutal Batman experience akin to Frank Miller’s “Batman: Year One” and the “Arkham” video games. With this new take and atmosphere on the Dark Knight, I believe this will be one of the best superhero films to ever come out for a while.
