(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – Returning to school after having a long break can have an impact on Mustang students and faculty when it comes to sleep and mental wellbeing.
Many spend winter break relaxing and lounging which can lead them to find it hard to get back into the swing of things.
Junior Evan Persad said, “It’s been rough transitioning back from break because the change in environments has affected my sleep negatively.”
Some teachers also have a difficult time adjusting to their school lives. With new classes and new material, it can be stressful coming back from break.
Math teacher Macie Adams said, “I figure it will take me a couple of weeks to straighten my schedule out. It is very similar to the adjustment at the beginning of the school year, but that time off was so worth it.”
But there are a few things everyone can do to help that transition.
Senior Ella Hansen said, “I get stuff ready the night before and make time to get to bed earlier to get a good amount of sleep. Also, if you need a little pick-me-up coffee can be very helpful.”
Another way to avoid fatigue is by finding something you enjoy here.
English teacher Susan O’Brien said, “Coming back from break has invigorated me because over the break I did all the fun stuff I like to do, and at one point I was a bit bored. I love my job, so I enjoy teaching here at LRHS.”
