The Mustang golfers finished 13th at states

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS boys and girls golf teams tied for 13th place at their respective state championships on Nov. 16 – 17 at the Mission Inn Golf Resort at Howey in the Hills.

The boys golf team had played well throughout their regular season and played hard during the state tournament but ultimately tied with the Spanish River Sharks for 13th place.

The lowest score for the boys was freshman Parker Severs who shot a 77 and a 76 to finish 24th individually.

Boys head coach Dave Frantz said, ““It was a great experience to compete for the state championship of Florida, and we learned so much from it that we hope to bring back to do better next year.”

The girls golf team also put up a good fight at states. Junior Lauren Hosier finished 20th individually and junior Jessica Kobetitsch finished 28th individually.

Kobetitsch said, “This was my third year playing at states and I’m so proud of how my team played the entire season in order to make it to states. I hope to be able to make it to states again next year with my team to finish my high school career on a high note.”

Both teams hope to build on their success and return to states next year.
