The JROTC Raiders finished second in the state

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS boys and girls Raiders teams had a successful weekend at their state competition on Saturday, Nov. 13.

The girls team placed second overall. They placed first in the 5K team run, second in the Raider fitness challenge, second in the tire flip, and third in the cross-country rescue.

Battalion commander senior Olivia Dorazio said, “The teams have worked very hard throughout the course of this season and overcame a lot of obstacles, I couldn’t have asked for a better performance.”

Junior Raider Faith Miller said, “I can say with confidence that this season has been a broad learning experience and it has shown us exactly where we will need to improve in order to excel even further in 2022.”

Both the girls and boys teams competed in five team events. The events were 5K team run, tire flip, Raiders fitness challenge, cross county rescue, and rope bridge.

The boys team finished third in the tire flip and third in the rope bridge.

LRHS Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) instructor Maj. Shaun O’dea said, “I expect that they worked as hard as they have practiced and that they honored the work and efforts put in by those before them.”

The Raiders teams have been preparing for states since early this school year and began competing in October.
