(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – As Mustangs look into the future for opportunities, some may consider joining the military. Senior Tobias Davis started his military career in May 2021.
From May to August Davis went through the first stage of training for the Army, basic combat training.
Sometimes simplified to “basic,” basic combat training is the introduction to Army service.
In basic trainees learn the traditions, tactics, and methods of becoming a soldier. They also learn discipline, including proper dress, marching, and grooming standards.
“For basic it was all about mindset and going into it confidently. The hardest part of training was definitely the obstacle courses,” said Davis.
Davis will return to the military after graduation and enter Advanced Individual Training (AIT). After training he hopes to enter the transportation sector of the Army.
Davis was inspired to enter the service to fulfill a family tradition as many members of his family served.
Davis offered advice for those interested in entering the military as well.
“Just be respectful, it will get you a long way and you will enjoy the process more,” continued Davis.
