Mustang swimmers make a splash

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – On Saturday the LRHS varsity swim teams swam to victories at their district championships at the Selby Aquatic Center.

Junior Nicole Majewski said, “Districts was a great bonding experience for the team, and I loved seeing everyone cheer for each other. I saw many personal records this weekend and had a few myself so I was incredibly happy.”

The following relays qualified for regionals:

  • 200 Yard Medley Girls Relay: Abby Loefgren, Reese Messal, Reese Wellander, and Phoebe Duval (1:56.05)
  • 200 Yard Medley Boys Relay: Dimiter Zafirov, Carter Kauffold, Frank Runge, and Kyle Dorn (1:49.02)
  • 200 Yard Freestyle Girls Relay: Nicole Majewski, Reese Wellander, Abby Loefgren, and Phoebe Duval (1:46.18)
  • 200 Yard Freestyle Boys Relay: Frank Runge, Kyle Dorn, Carter Kauffold, Dimiter Zafirov (1:39.44)
  • 400 Yard Freestyle Girls Relay: Parker Haught, Ainsley Ellis, Anastasia Jenkins, and Nicole Majewski (4:03.20)
  • 400 Yard Freestyle Boys Relay: Scott Barkey, Connor Allen, Diego Munoz, and Kai Byrd (3:57.10)

  • Frank Runge: Boys Yard 200 Freestyle (1:47.59), Boys Yard 500 Freestyle (4;45.12)
  • Phoebe Duval: Girls 200 Yard IM (2:15.47), Girls 100 Yard Freestyle (53.96)
  • Nicole Majewski: Girls 50 Yard Freestyle (25.97), Girls 100 Yard Freestyle (56.96)
  • Reese Wellandar: Girls 100 Yard Backstroke (1:03.29)
  • Reese Messal: Girls 100 Yard Breaststroke (1:12.29)
  • Carter Kauffold: Boys 100 Yard Breaststroke (1:07.74)

Head coach Steve Lubino said, “I am incredibly happy with the outcome of the meet. The team put in lots of hard work this weekend that paid off during the start of the state series.”

Regionals are scheduled for 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 5 at the Selby Aquatic Center.
