LRHS social studies teacher Patty Haeussler is the October “Mustang of the Month”

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – LRHS history teacher Patricia Haeussler was awarded the Mustang of the Month award by principal Dustin Dahlquist on Wednesday.

The Mustang of the Month award is a tradition started by a previous administration to recognize staff members.

The award was passed from teacher to teacher on a monthly basis, Haeussler is the first recipient since the award stopped early 2020 due to COVID-19.

Dahlquist said, “She won a Florida Council for The Social Studies teacher of the year award just a few weeks ago. Not only does she elevate our Mustangs, but she also beat cancer.”

While accepting the award Haeussler spoke about an upcoming interest of hers, the Daffodil Project.

The Daffodil Project is an effort to plant daffodils on campus to remember the 1.5-million children killed during the Holocaust.

Haeussler added, “LRHS was one of 15 local schools to be chosen for the Daffodil Project. The daffodils come from Israel, where they were specially grown to suit our climate.”

All the Daffodils were donated by the Jewish Federation of Sarasota-Manatee.
