(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – Now that the first quarter has ended, Mustangs have the opportunity to start off fresh in the new quarter.

However, Mustangs can experience the “second-quarter slump.”

The University of Washington (UW) explained this period as students losing momentum and motivation.

Junior Alannah Beausoleil said, “The new quarter is always kind of intimidating, but I know I have resources and people that can support me.”

As a result, many students’ grades start to take a hit. This can often be explained by an increasement of workload, midterms, and holiday breaks.

However, there are ways to avoid the second-quarter slump.

This includes adding self-care activities to one’s daily routine, having a set schedule for homework and down time, and setting quantitative goals.

LRHS college and career adviser Ricardo Acevedo said people should take advantage of the “Fresh start to the quarter…Do not fall behind, complete all your work as you receive it. It’s easier to stay at the top, then to climb to the top.”
