It is comprised of a grassroots group of over 180 individuals representing more than 60 non-profit social service agencies, community-based health providers, the Manatee County School District, Manatee County Government, and faith-based entities.

NRPP coordinator Kristin S. Olsen said, “Participants should feel comfortable sharing and learning from different perspectives.”

NRPP’s goal is to create community partnerships to implement universal substance abuse prevention strategies to promote the health and safety of individuals across the lifespan; especially, among youth.

The event is open for anyone aged 13-18.

LRHS school counselor Melissa Alter said, “Teenagers want their voices to be heard. Listen to them and give them opportunities to prepare for adulthood, not doing things for them which they can do for themselves.”
