(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- “I am a substitute teacher because I like working with kids and it allows me to coach and play soccer in the evenings,” stated full-time LRHS substitute Luke Schwarz.

Schwarz has been a substitute teacher for Manatee County Schools, such as Nolan Middle School, Mona Jain Middle School, Braden River Middle School, and LRHS since 2019.

Last year, he decided to become a full-time sub at LRHS to work with older students.  Beginning on the first day of school, Schwarz had to fill in the position for an English class.

Schwarz stated, “I like how helpful all the teachers and staff are. I also enjoy being able to move around and see different classes and students”.

Before his career at LRHS, Schwarz was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia.

He went to school at the University of Dallas where he majored in business and played soccer.

After graduation, he played semi-professional and amateur soccer in Texas, then eventually, in Florida.
